Sand Moor pair win the Spring Four-Ball Championship at Selby.

Selby Golf course looked immaculate as the opening Union Championship got underway on a bright, sunny but cool morning. The Head greenkeeper and his hard working staff had done a great job in the difficult weather we had experienced these past 3 months to produce 18 holes for our competition.

Leeds Union Executive members and Sand Moor pair, John Hallas(17) and Bob Thorp(19) were late starters as the rain started to fall but were not fazed and produced a fine winning score of 43 points. They beat  Oulton pair Jonathan Brabbs(16) and Adrian Deakin(10) on count back with five pairs close behind on 41 points.

Bob and John are usually on the desk administering the LDU competitions so this is a fine reward for their commiment.. They were presented with the F Lawson Brown Trophy first presented in 1937.
