JUNIOR SECTION
Regulations governing all tournaments and competitions for Junior competitors.
1. All competitors in Leeds & District Union of Golf Clubs Junior Events must be under 18 years of age at 00:01 on 1st January of the current year and must be a member of a club affiliated to the Union.
2. Boys competing in match play competitions shall play from the WHITE TEES with strokes taken according to the WHITE TEE stroke index, with the stroke allowance as per WHS guidelines. Girls competing in match play competitions shall play from the RED TEES with strokes taken according to the RED TEE stroke index, with the stroke allowance at full handicap difference.
Where boys and girls are competing in the same event, adjustments will be made for handicap purposes. The adjustment will reflect, plus or minus, the difference between the Ladies and Mens Course ratings for the course on which the event is being played as per WHS guidelines.
The exception will be that in Junior League Division 4 Boys shall play from YELLOW TEES.
3. Boys competing in stroke play competitions shall play from the WHITE TEES. Girls competing in stroke play competitions shall play from the RED TEES.
4. Boys competing in stableford competitions shall play from the WHITE TEES with strokes taken according to the WHITE TEE stroke index.
Girls competing in stableford competitions shall play from the RED TEES with strokes taken according the RED TEE stroke index.
5. All competitors should hold a WHS handicap and if required be able to produce their CDH number. Juniors may play in competitions but must comply with the handicap limits in force for that competition.
6. All competitors must comply strictly with the Host Club Rules and Etiquette on the Course and in the Clubhouse, particularly with regard to dress..
7. Caddies are not allowed in any competition and no one may give advice to the players on the course, apart from that relating to interpretation of the Rules of Golf. Spectators, other than Official Junior Organisers, must remain at least 25 metres from the players throughout the round except when circumstances demand otherwise. Any breach of this rule could lead to the disqualification of the player concerned.
8. Clubs must have evidence of each player’s handicap movements. This will show adjustments as a result of regular participation in medals, open competitions and handicap reviews. This record will ensure that every player has a Handicap Index that reflects his/her true ability. The rule may be relaxed if there are exceptional circumstances such as prolonged medically certified illness. In such a case the matter must be referred to the Executive Committee for a decision. Any breach of this rule will lead to disqualification of the player concerned.
