Junior Matchplay Champion 2024
Wetherby Golf Club hosted the Senior and Junior Individulal KO finals with Sam McIntyre (Garforth) playing Ben Waite(Low Laithes) over 18 holes. Both players have been regular Junior team mates and are currently 1st and 2nd in the Junior Order of Merit Scratch competitions which reach a climax at Sand Moor later this month.
As expected it was a close match but Sam forged a 2 hole advantage as they played the 16th hole. Both players hit great tee shots leaving themselves 203 and 206 yds respectively from the flag. Ben hit a delightful shot to approx 12 ft from the flag and Sam followed and finished within 6ft of the flag. Ben shaved the hole but Sam made a great birdie to win 3 and 2.
Both players are credits to their Clubs and we now move on to Sand Moor with Sam as Leeds Junior Champion.
