On a cool but pleasant golfing day the excellent Headingley Golf Course provided a tough test for the 20 teams who contested this Championship. There was confusion with incorrect scores being allocated on the live scoreboard creating difficulty for the administration team as they wrestled with finding a solution.
Whilst the Website providers are now working on the problem the team were able to revert to the old quill pen and paper to establish the correct results. The competition was based upon the aggregate Scratch Stableford scores of all four team members rather than the Scratch Medal system used in the past.
The eventual winners were the Temple Newsam quartet beating Garforth on a back 9 countback with home club Headingley finishing third:
TEMPLE NEWSAM: Michael Winters 19 - Andrew Hickamn 16 - Stephen Milner 15 - John Orrell 16 = 66 points ( back 9 - 35 pts)
GARFORTH: Steve Allaway 19 - Lee Bazeley 19 - John Dexter 16 - Michael Walker 12 = 66 points (back 9 - 31 pts)
HEADINGLEY: David O'Leary 18 - David Wilcock 14 - Mark Hobson 15 - Richard Butler 13 = 60 points
The J H Robinson Trophy will be presented to Temple Newsam and the Bill Darby Trophy will be presented to Glen Wilford (Selby) for the leading individual score of 23 points.
It is hoped that the full list of individual scores and Team scores will be available on the Website soon.
