We pleased to confirm that Mr. Peter Marchant of the Darrington Golf Club has been invited to become Leeds & District Union of Golf Clubs President Designate with immediate effect with a view to becoming President in 2027. His selection was unanimously agreed by the Past Presidents and endorsed by the Executive Committee.
Here is a brief CV to introduce Peter to those who have not met him:
Born – 29th December 1954 in Wolverhampton, attended Wolverhampton Grammar Technical High School with further studies at Wulfrun College and Portsmouth Polytechnic.
Work – A Civil Engineer working in water related infrastructure for over 50 years latterly in flood protection as CEO with M3Global Flood Technologies for the past 15 years.
Retiring in 2025.
Relocated to Yorkshire in 1984 whilst working on the duplication of the Yorkshire Derwent water aqueduct from Selby to Rotherham
Married – to Sandra in 1988 with daughter Katy and son Tom
Golf – Joined Penn GC in Wolverhampton as a junior Member and learned the game under the guidance of stalwart Professional and former Walker Cup player Charlie Stowe. Now member of Darrington GC (formerly Mid Yorkshire) since 2000, Currently 15 handicap (best ever 7).

Handicap and Competition Chair – 2017 to present
Member of the club’s Joint Executive Committee – 2017 to present
